On September 4, 2014, South Carolina State Trooper Sean Groubert pulled over Levar Jones for a seatbelt violation. Then this happened…
As you can see and hear in the dashcam video released today (Sept. 24, 2014) , after exiting his vehicle at the Circle-K, Groubert asked Levar Jones for ID. Jones went into his car to get said ID, and let’s just say Groubert “jumped the gun” a bit, shooting Jones in the thigh.
Sean Groubert was fired following the incident, and today he was booked on charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Groubert faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted, however, he out currently out of jail after posting $75,000 bond.
Meanwhile, Levar Jones, is out of the hospital and recovering after being shot in the hip. Jones “hopes what happened to him can make a change throughout the country,” according to WISTV.
